Research Overview

PUMP MIX BLEND is a formulated solution of amino acids and NAC frequently selected for experimental work involving nitric oxide precursor systems, amino acid uptake, mitochondrial energy metabolism, osmotic regulation and redox balance. The inclusion of arginine and citrulline supports studies of nitrogen metabolism and NO-related signaling, while taurine, glutamine, carnitine and NAC expand its relevance to broader cellular stress and metabolic research models.

Primary Research Areas

  • Nitric oxide & arginine-citrulline cycle research: used in experimental models investigating substrate availability, endothelial signaling and nitrogen balance [1].
  • Cellular energy & mitochondrial metabolism: applied in studies involving L-carnitine transport systems, amino acid utilization and metabolic efficiency [3].
  • Osmoregulation & cell stress response: taurine and glutamine are commonly explored in models of cell volume control, membrane stability and stress adaptation [5,7].
  • Redox balance & antioxidant pathways: N-acetylcysteine is widely studied as a precursor-related compound in glutathione-associated and oxidative stress research [4].
  • Amino acid transport & structural metabolism: lysine and proline are relevant in experimental work focused on amino acid transport, protein turnover and matrix-related pathways.
  • Time-trial speed (L-citrulline): 22 trained men took 2.4 g of L-citrulline a day for a week, then again an hour before a 4 km cycling time trial, and finished 1.5% faster than on placebo. One small crossover study, and the daily dose is about 28 ml of this solution’s citrulline content, more than the whole bottle [1].
  • Reps and next-day soreness (L-citrulline): 41 men doing 16 sets of bench press after a single 8 g dose of citrulline malate managed 52.9% more repetitions in the final set than on placebo, and reported about 40% less soreness at 24 and 48 hours. The form tested was citrulline malate rather than plain citrulline, and 14.6% got stomach discomfort [2].
  • Recovery after hard training (L-carnitine): 80 adults took L-carnitine tartrate daily for five weeks and then did a high-volume exercise challenge; compared with placebo they felt more recovered and less sore, had lower creatine kinase in blood, and lost less strength and power. It was swallowed every day for over a month, so this is not a pre-workout effect [3].
  • Flare-ups in smokers’ lung disease (NAC): in a re-analysis of the PANTHEON trial, with 482 people on N-acetylcysteine 600 mg twice a day against placebo, NAC cut the rate of chronic-obstructive-pulmonary-disease flare-ups needing medical care by 20% over a year. That is 1.2 g of NAC a day, all the NAC in this 20 ml bottle [4].
  • Sickle-cell pain crises (L-glutamine): 230 children and adults with sickle cell disease were randomised to L-glutamine or placebo for 48 weeks; those on glutamine had fewer pain crises (median 3 against 4) and fewer hospital admissions. The dose was about 42 g a day for a 70 kg adult, far more glutamine than this blend holds [5].
  • L-arginine after a heart attack (trial stopped early): 153 patients after a first ST-elevation heart attack took L-arginine 3 g three times a day or placebo for six months; vessel stiffness and heart pumping did not improve, and six patients on arginine died against none on placebo, which closed recruitment. The authors concluded arginine should not be used after a heart attack [6].
